It is also is supported by several sponsors and donations from the surrounding community.
Quote from the web site:
- "Welcome to the Tick Encounter Resource Center *at the University of Rhode Island. We distinguish ourselves by providing you with information regarding ticks and tick-transmitted diseases, but also seek to interactively guide you through the most up-to-date, effective actions that you can take to prevent ticks from biting you, your family and your pets.
Did you know that in many areas of the northeast and mid-atlantic United States, you are highy likely to be bitten by a disease-carrying tick in your own backyard?

URI's Center For Vector-Borne Disease is a non-profit organization devoted to preventing insect- and arthropod-transmitted infections. To eliminate tick-borne disease in Rhode Island, we will implement our goals, and seek out those people and entities that will make a difference, and encourage them to do their part.
